A French singer-songwriter based in Paris, Pruine writes in the fragile interval where the most ordinary gestures become signs. A departure announced too late, a forgotten light in a corridor, the sound of an intercom or a few words left unanswered can be enough to spark a song. His lyrics move through absences, fragile ties, the places we leave and everything objects seem to keep silently of our passing. His music opts for restraint and lets silence breathe. A voice up close, a few piano notes, barely-there electronic textures and melodies that refuse to rush create an intimate, delicate world that is never still. Each track advances like a light in the night: without unnecessary flash, with that particular slowness that lets emotions find their place.
The North that runs through his imagination isn’t really a destination. It’s a color, a calm clarity, sometimes almost white, that falls over landscapes, rooms and memories. That light gives his songs their unique space, somewhere between contemporary French chanson, sensitive pop and a discreet kind of poetry.
